The 1995 issue is one chapter in the series. The United States Mint launched the American Eagle bullion program in 1986. Every Silver Eagle contains one troy ounce of .999 fine silver and carries a one-dollar legal-tender denomination, although its metal value is much higher than face value.

The obverse adapts Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty, first used on the half dollar in 1916. From 1986 through the first part of 2021, John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle appeared on the reverse; the Type 2 redesign introduced Emily Damstra’s landing eagle and new security details later in 2021.
