The 1921 issue is one chapter in the series. George T. Morgan’s silver dollar was struck from 1878 through 1904, then returned for one final mass-production year in 1921. The design pairs Morgan’s profile of Liberty with an eagle holding arrows and an olive branch, and the original circulating coin is 90 percent silver.
The 1921 issue was made at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco after the Pittman Act required replacement of millions of melted dollars. Its availability makes it a common entry point, but mintmark, strike, surface preservation, and variety still create a deep field for study.
