History & provenance
A private-mint design with long roots.
This 1 oz record represents the 1 oz Prospector Bar format. SilverTowne began as a small Indiana coin shop in 1949 and grew into a mint and bullion dealer. Its Prospector motif appeared on the company’s earliest bars in the 1970s and became one of the most persistent images in American private-mint silver.
The prospector and burro vignette deliberately evokes the search for precious metal rather than a government seal. Reissues across sizes and generations keep the subject familiar, while reverse patterns, borders, and exact maker marks distinguish individual production runs.
